Two years ago an unexpected moment happened in our family - an extraordinary moment, one that will remain in our family lore forever.
Our daughter, Monica, had just landed in Paris to begin an exciting tour of Europe. She made a beeline to the nearest bathroom and as she exited the bathroom there stood her grandfather.
Now for the extraordinary part: This moment was not planned - the flights were scheduled independently and neither one knew of the others plans. Monica had departed from Seattle, my dad from San Jose, Costa Rica and it was the first flight to Paris for both of them.
And yet, there he was, standing outside that bathroom door at the precise moment she exited - an extraordinary, incomprehensible moment. Breathtaking, really.
